Trainspotting

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a starter home. Choose dental insurance, leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose your future. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that?

I know this is stretch to call this a conscious movie but so many people feel empty and lonely despite the many opportunities and creative expressions available to them. This story is about a group of disaffected Scottish youths who turn to heroin to escape the banalities of modern-day existence. Then, they begin to suffer the consequences and discover that there are no easy solutions to the inherent loneliness and pain of life.

With some remarkably innovative scenes depicting the bliss of being away from the pain of every day life and some stunning performances by Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle, this film looks at the pressure to conform versus the overwhelming desire to live freely and the consequences of both paths.
